Delheim Wine Estate

Our baskets were packed and we were ready to experience Delheim Wine Estate’s summer picnic. I love a good picnic on a beautiful day. And Delheim did not hold back.

With yummy treats and a gorgeous wine packed, we followed the path (almost like Alice in Wonderland) to a secret garden where what awaited us left me speechless. Or rather, like a kid super excited on Christmas morning. It really does not take much to make a Mamma happy, right?

Lush, green grass provides the perfect spot to relax on; tall trees offering just the right amount of shade and sun, and a bubbling stream runs below pausing only to allow the chirps of the birds to filter through. I don’t think there are many picnics areas that compare to this one at Delheim.

From the moment we arrived, the kids were instant explorers - chasing across the bridges, climbing over the jungle gym and bringing me all sorts of treasures (sticks and flowers of course); they were living their best lives!

And so was I!

But let’s be real. The reason I was there was for the food. Truth be told, I was ravenous and ready to get stuck into the delicious basket of treats. The kids had their own boxes with snacks prepared especially for them and mamma had hers (but luckily my kids love to share so I got to try some of theirs too; and it was good!).

The picnic baskets serve two people and there are various options which cater for both vegetarians and meat-lovers. Wines can be purchased separately to take down to the picnic area and enjoy with your basket.

No one left hungry and there was not much left over which tells me, the food was that tasty.

Delheim also offers a unique cupcake and wine pairing experience. Booking in advance is essential. The restaurant on site offers gorgeous food, however I do not recommend it with little kids.
